Start with the wallet, not the bookmaker

Getting your money

On a small payout the bookmaker decides how fast the money moves. On a large one it does not: the ceiling belongs to your wallet, it is set by the central bank, and it applies the same whichever book the money is leaving. That is the part almost nobody puts first, so it is first here.

The ceiling that actually binds

A mobile wallet is not a bank account and it does not hold whatever you put in it. The central bank sets three verification tiers, each with a daily figure, a monthly figure and a maximum balance, and the monthly one is the one that bites. Splitting a large payout across consecutive days does not get round a monthly ceiling, and the only thing that removes it is moving up a tier.

The rails

MTN Mobile Money

wallet · universal

The default. Every book that publishes a cashier at all names it.

Telecel Cash

wallet · universal

Same wallet, two names, and the market has not finished switching.

AirtelTigo Money

wallet · universal but smallest

Universally accepted, smallest by share, and quietly the worst treated.

Bank transfer

bank · common but secondary

The route for a large win, and the only one the wallet ceilings do not cap.

Debit or credit card

card · rare, deposit only

Money in only. Nothing on this register pays a winning back to a card.

Cryptocurrency

crypto · one licensed casino, absent from every licensed sportsbook

One licensed casino takes it. No licensed sportsbook does.

Two things that are no longer charged, and one that is

A levy sat on every mobile money transfer from 2022, was trimmed at the start of 2023, and was repealed outright on 2025-04-02 under the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Act, 2025 (Act 1128). The revenue authority told charging entities to stop deducting the same day and to refund anything taken afterwards. Nothing the state charges now sits between a bookmaker's payout and a wallet.

A ten per cent withholding on gross winnings ran alongside it from 2023 and was repealed on the same day, 2 April 2025, under Act 1129. Both were real and both are gone, so a page describing any period before April 2025 has to say so rather than implying this market has always paid winnings in full.

What is still charged is a private matter between a bookmaker and its cashier. betPawa publishes a percentage taken from every withdrawal, on its own page, and it is the only book on this register that does. Several affiliate sites state the opposite about it.

Interoperability, without the overclaim

Money crosses between the three wallets. GhIPSS runs the switch behind all of them and carries wallet to wallet across networks as well as wallet to bank, reachable from the short code a reader already uses.

What that is worth to somebody collecting a payout is smaller than it sounds and worth stating accurately. A bookmaker pushes winnings to the wallet the account was registered with, so this does not let anyone pick a network at the cashier. What it does is make the choice of network almost irrelevant afterwards, which leaves the verification tier as the only thing standing between a large win and the person who won it.

What each book will admit about paying you

Three books publish a withdrawal floor and five books say what withdrawing costs. Those two silences are the most common on the whole sheet, and they are silences about the only moment in this transaction that goes in the customer's direction.

The rule for this list Every registered book, sorted into four tiers by a stated rule rather than by a decimal place.

Some of the links below pay us a commission when someone opens an account. The band a book sits in is set by the count of questions it leaves unanswered and by nothing that is bought.

I Tier Answers everything, or all but one

Leaves at most one of the eighteen questions unanswered. Two books here, in alphabetical order, because inside a band there is no order.

Strip, left to right: a filled square is a question the operator answers on its own pages, a hollow one is a silence, a struck one is a question its product cannot be asked.

About being paid in Ghana

How fast do Ghanaian bookmakers pay out?
They publish an answer and nobody here has checked it. Ten books of the thirteen on the register state a speed at all, mostly as a word rather than a figure, and every one of those words is quoted on this site as the operator’s own claim.
What is the real limit on a big win?
Your wallet, not the bookmaker. Under the Bank of Ghana tiers a minimum-verification wallet cannot receive more than GH₵3,000 in a day or GH₵10,000 in a month, and the monthly figure is the one that actually binds, because splitting a payout across several days does not get round it.
Is there still a levy on mobile money transfers?
No. It was introduced in 2022, cut at the start of 2023 and repealed outright on 2025-04-02, and the revenue authority instructed charging entities to stop deducting immediately and refund anything taken after that date.
Does it matter which network my wallet is on?
Less than it looks. A payout is pushed to the wallet you registered, so you cannot pick a network at the cashier, but money that lands on one network can be moved to another afterwards through the national switch. What that leaves is the verification tier, which is the thing worth sorting out before a large win rather than after.
Do any of them charge to pay you?
betPawa publishes a withdrawal fee on its own page, which nothing else on this register does. What is more common is silence: seven books say nothing either way, and a silence is not a promise that it is free.
